That’s how much Charles Dickens’ toothpick sold for in a recent auction in New York City.
A buyer who did not want to be identified paid $9,150 for the ivory and gold toothpick once owned by the famous author, according to the BBC.
The item that was sold at Bonhams New York is engraved with Dickens’ initials. An authentication letter from his sister-in-law confirms that he used the toothpick up to his death in 1870, the story states.
The pre-sale estimate for the item was between $3,000 and $5,000.
