Dental chair and cabinetry supplier Boyd Industries will launch its Concealed Delivery Unit at this year's American Association of Pediatric Dentistry meeting (AAPD 2016).
The treatment room fixture keeps handpieces and other dental equipment out of sight of young dental patients, while making them accessible to dentists and assistants during procedures, the company said.
Serious anxiety, often rooted in negative childhood experiences, prevents many people from seeking preventive care. Experts in dental anxiety estimate that between 5% and 8% of Americans avoid dentists due to fear, the company said. As many as 20% of people have enough anxiety that they will only go to the dentist when absolutely necessary.
AAPD 2016 will be held in San Antonio, May 26-29.
