Foreo has launched a new silicone electric toothbrush for babies and children up to age 4.
The ISSA mikro toothbrush design includes a seamlessly attached brush head that cleans the child's teeth at any angle, according to the company.
Key features of the toothbrush include nonabrasive silicone bristles, a nonporous silicone brush handle, and sonic pulse technology for plaque removal. The toothbrush is also 100% waterproof and nontoxic, as well as free of bisphenol A (BPA), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) latex, and phthalates. The ISSA mikro is available in five colors: fuchsia, green, yellow, pink, and blue.
Studies show a rise in caries among children between the ages of 2 and 5 years, indicating the need for gum massage before the first tooth develops and a good cleaning routine when a baby's first teeth appear, according to the company.
Currently, the ISSA mikro toothbrush is only available for purchase on the company's Indiegogo crowdfunding page, with estimated delivery of July 2016.
