Canadians get access to antibacterial tooth coating

Older Canadians will get access to the Prevora antibacterial tooth coating from CHX Technologies thanks to an agreement the firm has signed with dental provider MCI Medical Clinics.

MCI Medical Clinics will make Prevora available to its patients starting in 2017. Prevora is a topical coating designed as a preventive treatment for adult root caries that is currently approved for use in Europe and Canada. MCI Medical staff will provide Prevora and oral health education to patients who visit one of the company's 28 medical practices.

"Older adult Canadians are commonly without dental insurance and many avoid visiting the dentist because they fear expensive surgical procedures," stated Ross Perry, president of CHX, in a press release. "But these same high-risk patients do visit their doctor and will learn from their medical team how Prevora will improve their oral health."

"We expect many of older adult patients will benefit significantly from Prevora's proven abilities to manage their oral infections topically, painlessly, and affordably," stated George Christodoulou, DDS, CEO of MCI Medical.
