Procter & Gamble (P&G) has unveiled the Oral-B Genius smart toothbrush at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The congress is the largest mobile conference in the world.
The Genius features new position detection technology that combines motion sensor technology in the brush with video recognition using a smartphone's camera. The position detection technology makes sure users don't miss any zones when brushing their teeth.
Users of the Genius brush will also receive instant feedback from the upcoming version 4.1 of the Oral-B app, such as guidance on pressure applied and brushing duration. Other features include the following:
- Travel case that charges both the brush and a USB device
- Mirror smartphone holder that is removable and reattachable
- SmartRing, a personalized lighting system that users can customize through the Oral-B app
Starting in July 2016, the brush will be available in select markets, and version 4.1 of the Oral-B app will be released to the iTunes and Google Play app stores.
