Forward Science has released SalivaMAX, a prescription-strength oral rinse to treat xerostomia and mucositis.
SalivaMAX, an artificial saliva, comes in single-use packets. It is made of powdered ingredients that, when mixed with 1ounce of water, forms a supersaturated calcium phosphate solution, according to the company. This solution is clinically proven to provide relief of xerostomia symptoms, Forward Sciences stated.
Patients swish with the product for one minute. However, the product is available by prescription only. The company is offering a patient assistance program for those who qualify.
