DentaQuest has entered into an agreement in Texas to administer a contract in the state's Medicaid program with dental service organization (DSO) Brident Dental using a value-based care and payment model.
The agreement uses a payment model that focuses on value and outcomes, instead of the traditional fee-for-service model. Brident's reimbursement levels are tied to quality metrics and overall cost of care, according to DentaQuest.
Only a few Brident practices in Texas are initially participating in the contract, which also requires quarterly monitoring to ensure that providers are meeting appropriate guidelines for providing preventive services to patients. No dental practices will be required to switch to a value-based model, DentaQuest stated.
Brident Dental, an affiliate of Western Dental, has 34 offices in Texas.
