Citing the success of its Cerec AC dental CAD/CAM system outside the U.S., Sirona Dental Systems reported that its net profit tripled in the third quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year.
For the period (end-June 30), the company posted net income of $20.5 million, compared with net income of $6.7 million in the same period in 2008. The company posted revenues of $180.6 million, down 3% compared with $186.9 million in the same quarter of 2008. The company said that at constant currency rates, revenues were up 6.2%.
U.S. revenue decreased by 17.3%, with both imaging and CAD/CAM sales down.
"We saw the positive impact of the International Dental Show in Cologne and continued traction of our new product launches," said Chairman, President, and CEO Jost Fischer.
